Print labels from Excel or CSV, without Word

Make a list with one row per label, import it and print: barcode or price labels on a thermal printer, or address labels on A4 sheets with your office printer. The file is read on your computer and never uploaded.

Every import is logged in the history: repeat it with one click or export it to Excel.

What you need (and what it does not do)

  • Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Firefox on Windows or Mac. Excel does not need to be installed: the extension reads .xlsx and .csv files by itself.
  • Any printer: thermal label printers through their driver (Zebra also direct, with Zebra Browser Print) or a laser or inkjet printer with label sheets.
  • Google Sheets, LibreOffice or Numbers: export the sheet as .csv or .xlsx and import it. There is no live link to the spreadsheet.
  • Not for databases or ERP connections, automatic printing or RFID: for that, programs such as BarTender are the right tool.

Step by step

  1. Prepare the file: one row per label
Prepare the file: one row per label
The first row holds the column names. For products: Name, Price, SKU, EAN and, if you want several copies of a row, Quantity. Optional: Lot, Expiry, QR, Content (net content for the price per kg or litre), Stock (one label per unit) and Before (previous price, printed crossed out). For shipping: Recipient, Address, Postcode, City, Country. Save it as .xlsx or .csv; old .xls files must be saved as .xlsx first.
  2. Import it in PrinterTag
    Import it in PrinterTag
Open the extension and click 📄 Import Excel or CSV. Choose the file: the list appears with one label per row. Nothing is uploaded: the file is read inside your browser.
  3. Choose the template
    Choose the template
Name + price + barcode, big price + barcode, barcode only, QR code + name + price, GS1-128 with lot and expiry, or Shipping address. Or design your own in the template editor, with your logo. The preview changes as you choose.
  4. Choose the printer and the label size
Choose the printer and the label size
A thermal roll (50×25, 100×50, 4×6", 104×147 mm or any custom size) on Zebra, TSC, SATO, Brother, Dymo…, or Office printer with an Avery or compatible A4 or Letter sheet. The first time, the setup assistant asks these questions and ends with a test label.
  5. Print
    Print
Direct to a Zebra, or through the print dialog with any other printer. The Quantity column multiplies each row; Stock prints one label per unit; with Sequential numbering every label gets its own number.
  6. Save the job
    Save the job
💾 Save job keeps the list, template and size to print it again another day. Every print is also logged in the 🕘 History, where Repeat loads it again as it was.

Frequently asked questions

Which columns does the file need?

For products: Name, Price, SKU (or Reference), EAN (or Barcode) and Quantity. Optional columns: Lot, Expiry, QR, Content, Stock and Before. For shipping labels: Recipient, Address, Postcode, City, State, Country and Order. Column names in your own language also work.

Can I print barcodes from the Excel file?

Yes. The EAN column is printed as an EAN-13 or UPC barcode (the check digit is verified before printing), the SKU as Code 128. You can also choose EAN-8, ITF-14, Code 39, DataMatrix, QR or GS1-128 with GTIN, lot and expiry.

Can I print one label per unit in stock?

Yes. Add a Stock column: a row with 12 units prints 12 labels. Quantity does the same for copies of a row.

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The extension reads it on your computer and does not keep a copy. There are no accounts or servers.

Can I print address labels from an Excel list on A4 sheets?

Yes. Use the Recipient, Address, Postcode, City and Country columns, the Shipping address template and an Avery or compatible A4 sheet. You can start at any label and skip used slots.
